In August 2013, I was commissioned by the Chilean Canadian Cultural Society, with two other Latin American artists, to create a commemorative Artwork for the 40 Year Anniversary of the Chilean Coup. We were asked to include Canada, as a beacon of hope for the refugee Chileans that landed here.

As the present Chilean, I took the lead and created the composition for the piece. Local Latin American artists Roger Garcia (El Salvador), Pedro Rodriguez de Los Santos (Uruguay), and I, collaborated to paint the mural.

This project inspired a series of work based on my Latin American roots; specifically indigenous cultural influences in Chile, such as textiles and colours; folklore art/culture, such as dance and music; and sociopolitical murals.
