MANgry (work in progress)
2017 - present, Edmonton, AB
In February 2017, after Donald Trump, the “pussy grabber’, was elected President, I began the underdrawings for Presidential Goose for a Presidential Gander. My feeling was that, if the President could get away with assault, then he should at least have a taste of it himself, metaphorically speaking. And half of NorthAmerica agreed as women and supportive men took to the streets to protest misogyny and inequality. When Mitch McConnell tried to silence Senator Warren, he helped propel the movement because Senator Warren continued despite being cold-shouldered and ostracized. “Never the Less she persisted” became a viral hit, referring more broadly to women's persistence in breaking barriers, despite being silenced or ignored.
In March 2017, Parliament removed Robert Camp from office and he resigned the same day. Federal Court Judge of Canada Robert camp was properly let go after asking a rape victim if she "couldn't just keep [her] knees together" or "sink [her] bottom" into the bathroom sink to avoid being raped. The need to combat systematic misogyny became more urgent as cave-man thinking became suddenly prominent in Alberta, by an “educated” male.
MANgry is an overt outcry for justice and equality. Using both shock and humour, I bring forth issues that need to be addressed by the patriarchy at some point, or face being ousted as toxic
